I am Shohreh Haghighi—an artist who observes the world around her with a meticulous, deeply engaged gaze shaped by culture and lived experience. As a woman critical of the current conditions, I challenge the rules and traditions that restrict women and at times even endanger them.

My aim is not merely to protest against the objectification and instrumental view of women in a traditional and religious society; through art, I strive to confront the dominant masculine mindset and global gaze with the lived realities and present experiences of women in Iran.

My artistic thought and practice are not born from the usual competitions of galleries and festivals; the roots of my work lie within society itself and the everyday realities that surround me. It is this living connection that brings authenticity and freshness to the “narrative” in my works. I am both creator and storyteller.

I am not only a sculptor and ceramic artist; I am the voice of women whose cries are yet to be heard. I have chosen art as a way of living, a means of expression, and a path toward shaping a freer world.
